He met Master Xuanzang over 1,400 years ago. In a sense, he was Xuanzang's sworn brother. Without him, Xuanzang's journey would have been much more difficult. But thanks to his achievements in the ancient Gaochang Kingdom (Turpan in Xinjiang, China), after four arduous months, Xuanzang was about to embark on a well-funded phase of his journey.
